Hillsville attorney Dwight Compton has been arrested and charged with felony strangulation and other charges in Grayson County after a Feb. 6 incident in Galax.
According to Grayson County Sheriff Richard Vaughan, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department received a call from a third party on Feb. 6 at approximately 10:10 p.m. regarding an ongoing domestic dispute at a residence in Galax.
“Upon arrival, Deputy Chase Long observed the male subject grab the female from behind by the hair with both hands and pushed her into the wall. Deputy Long attempted to make entry into the residence. The door was locked, so Deputy Long knocked on the door and announced, ‘Sheriff’s Office.’ The male subject opened the door,” Vaughan said. “Once inside, Deputy Long observed the female was bleeding, bruised, and in need of medical attention. The female was transported by rescue squad personnel to Twin County Regional Hospital, where she was treated and released.”…
