Five FWBC students win scholarships in Thomasville MLK contest

Five members of the First Waughtown Baptist Church (FWBC) Teens of Purpose College/Career Preparatory Ministry won a combined $5,350 in the Silver Anniversary Martin Luther King Social Action Committee (MLK-SAC) Oratorical Contest. The event was held Saturday, Jan. 18, at the T. Austin Finch Auditorium in Thomasville to celebrate the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. This year’s theme was “For Such a Time As This.” Fifteen students from Triad schools competed for a total of $25,000 in scholarships.
