GREENSBORO, N.C. — Chances are, you’ve heard of the jury duty scam. A caller claims you missed jury duty and will be arrested unless you pay a fine over the phone.
But a NC man says the scam now has a new twist. Instead of being threatened, the caller takes the approach of helping you get out of a mess.
Phillip Oakley says the man on the phone identified himself as a local sheriff’s deputy. Here’s how the conversation went:
