BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) addressed the fatal accident that occurred on US 17 North in Leland on Feb. 18.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP), BCSO Deputy Nathan Kye failed to stop at a red light on his way to help another BCSO member when he collided with Cora Cartrette’s car.
Cartrette was pronounced dead at the scene and Kye was transported to the hospital due to injuries.
