NC gang leader with street name ‘Mad Max’ gets prison over devices to convert firearms into machine guns

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — An eastern North Carolina gang leader with “Mad Max” as his nickname was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison in a plea agreement over illegally converting firearms into machine guns, federal officials said Monday.

In a plea deal, Quayshaun Deonte Howington, 33, of Ahoskie was convicted of the illegal transfer of a machine gun, according to a Monday news release from the U.S. Attorney of the Eastern District of North Carolina.

A sealed indictment for the “high ranking” member of the G-Shine set of the United Blood Nation street gang led to Howington’s arrest in November 2023, officials said…
