PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — It’s going to be a beautiful, sunny day across the Piedmont with highs in the mid-50s.
High pressure will be over the northeastern corner of the state today, keeping the weather dry. It is forecast to drift eastward through tomorrow, allowing clouds to work their way into our skies overnight. Lows will be in the mid-30s by daybreak tomorrow with partly cloudy skies.
‘Elevated risk’ of fires in Triad counties on Monday
An approaching storm system will be strengthening along the Mississippi River tomorrow, and we’re expecting clouds to increase across the Carolinas through the day. Temperatures will be warming up nicely, reaching the mid-60s.
Wednesday brings a Level 2/Slight Risk of severe weather in central and eastern North Carolina as the storm to our west arrives. The primary threats for severe weather will be from damaging winds and isolated tornadoes. Winds may gust up to 60 mph as storms come through, and there are multiple lines of showers and thunderstorms we’ll be watching through the day. Highs will be in the upper-60s.
Cooler, drier conditions return for the end of the work week. Thursday will be windy with clearing skies and highs in the lower-50s. Scattered clouds are expected Friday with highs near 60°.
Over the weekend, we’ll have partly to mostly cloudy skies with a 40% chance of showers on Sunday. Temperatures are going to be warmer Saturday, in the upper-60s, then cool to the mid-50s Sunday afternoon…
