PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A Wind Advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the Piedmont Triad.
The Storm Prediction Center has posted a Level 2/Slight Risk from the western Triad to the Foothills, and a Level 3/Enhanced Risk from the eastern side of the Triad to the Coast.
A powerful cold front is going to cross the Piedmont this morning, bringing gusty winds and the possibility of isolated tornadoes.
Storms may arrive as early as 6 a.m. in our western counties, but the worst weather in the Triad is expected to be between 8 am and 10 am.
Winds will be sustained between 20 and 25 mph with gusts between 45 and 60 mph. Winds of this strength can cause wind damage and power outages. Please use caution when driving this morning and avoid driving if storms are headed your way.
By this afternoon, the line of thunderstorms will be over eastern North Carolina and we will have a windy, partly cloudy afternoon. Temperatures are expected to warm to the mid-60s.
Partly cloudy to mostly clear skies are ahead tonight with lows in the upper-30s.
