Alamance County family sues Sheriff, deputies over May 2023 shooting of mentally ill son

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is facing a wrongful death lawsuit after a deadly shooting back in May 2023.

Sheriff Terry Johnson, along with 10 other deputies, are named in the lawsuit. WFMY News 2 obtained the lawsuit paperwork filed by the family’s attorney James Hairston, Jr. in November 2024.

On May 8, 2023, Alamance County deputies were called to the home of Warren Kent Davis’ girlfriend, Jackie Pleasant. Pleasant called police to help remove Davis from her home.
