Greensboro Woman Charged With Insurance Fraud and Forgery in Alleged Porsche Theft Scam

A Greensboro woman has been swiftly apprehended on multiple counts of fraud related to an alleged automobile insurance scam. Crystal Nicole Frierson, aged 38, faces charges of insurance fraud, obtaining property by false pretense, attempting to obtain property by false pretense, and two counts of common law forgery—all felonies, as announced by North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey yesterday.

The accusations hinge on an incident that transpired last August, where Frierson supposedly submitted a forged certificate of origin and bill of sale to Integon Indemnity Corp. The documents were used to support a claim asserting that her 2017 Porsche was stolen from the roadside. Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division claim to have unravelled the attempt to defraud the insurance company, an endeavor that, according to an arrest warrant, netted Frierson $900 in rental car payments for the falsified theft claim.

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office executed the arrest last Sunday, and in an interesting twist, Frierson was released on a written promise to make an appearance before the Guilford County District Court scheduled on April 15.
