ABSS teachers, workers push for better pay at ABSS meeting

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Teachers gathered outside the Alamance-Burlington school board meeting Monday night, trying to push for more pay and staffing before the school board finalized its budget. WFMY News 2’s Nixon Norman got reaction from people involved.

More than a dozen teachers made their voice heard, all asking for one thing, to bring back the positions lost during last year’s budget negotiations and provide supplements for staff members who aren’t teachers.

Last year around this time, Alamance-Burlington laid off more than 60 people, mainly because of changes in COVID funding. It was mostly nurses, social workers and assistant principals impacted…
