Greensboro Police warn about ‘Three Card Monte’ scam popping up around city

GREENSBORO, N.C. — On Sunday, the Greensboro Police Department took to social media to warn citizens about a new scam popping up around the city.

“Not all scams come through a text, phone call, or email,” GPD posted. “And with warm weather setting in, we’re seeing a rise in games of chance … that you have NO chance of winning!”

According to the Greensboro Police Department, people are setting up in parking lots and challenging passersby to games of “Three Card Monte,” a notorious card game traditionally associated with con men where a person is shown three playing cards before they’re flipped over and moved around in a random order.
