Forsyth County serial dollar store robber sentenced to 22 years in prison

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Forsyth County man was sentenced to 22 years in prison for a string of armed robberies across the Triad, according to the US Department of Justice Office.

Byron Clay Scott, age 33, was accused of at least 10 armed robberies at Dollar General and Family Dollar stores across Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Burlington, and Reidsville.

He was arrested on Jan. 15, 2024, by the Winston-Salem Police Department. When police searched his car, they found gloves and masks in the back seat, consistent with those seen on surveillance videos of the robberies…
