NC man sentenced to 37 years after 2022 high-speed chase: U.S. Department of Justice

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — A Forsyth County man was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to multiple charges stemming from a 2022 high-speed chase during which he fired at law enforcement officers, according to the United States Department of Justice.

Tyree Ray Long, 28, was sentenced to a total of 37 years. He was convicted of several federal offenses, including Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Assault on a Federal Officer with a Deadly and Dangerous Weapon, and Discharging a Firearm During a Crime of Violence.

The incident began on April 21, 2022, when Winston-Salem Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance involving gunfire. A woman told officers that her boyfriend, Long, had fired at her and her daughter as they tried to leave their home following an argument.
