GREENSBORO, N.C. — Memorial Day weekend is here, and it’s looking a little different this year than usual. Cooler air is moving in, and will stick around the whole time. The biggest question is will it rain, and when? The WFMY News 2 Weather Team is here to help you plan out your time.
Cooler Weather Than Usual
Air is flowing in from the north and you probably feel the chill. Cool mornings will last through the weekend, with pleasantly warm afternoons. The temperature dropped after two cold fronts moved through the area this week.
For mornings, plan on temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s through Monday. The afternoons will warm up to around 70 and just above it at times. Maybe not exactly pool weather, but still comfortable enough to enjoy.
Dry Saturday, but Rain Possible on Sunday
We’ll stay dry and comfortable for Friday and Saturday as high pressure remains in control. After that, a few waves of low pressure are possible as they move our way from the west. The first will arrive on Sunday.
It looks likely that Sunday morning and midday will be dry. After that, at least some scattered showers are possible across the Carolinas. This goes for the mountains, Piedmont, and the beaches. We’re not talking about washout rain here – but enough that it could be disruptive to any of your outdoor plans.
Memorial Day Monday Could Have Rain, But Trending Drier
Watching Monday, the trend is for it to look a little bit drier than it had over the past few days. Still, we’ll be tracking a few waves of low pressure moving by but Monday could be a gap in between these rainy periods…
