WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A car crashed into the Dewey’s Bakery location at Thruway Shopping Center Friday morning after the driver mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brakes, according to Forsyth County EMS and Fire. The store said it is in the process of closing but said customers can still come to the door for pickup orders.
Officials said no one was trapped or injured in the crash, including people inside the store at the time. Emergency crews responded to the scene, but have since cleared. The Forsyth County Health Department was called to assess the situation due to the damage to the storefront.
