WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — We’re learning new details about a deadly crash that happened in Winston-Salem back in March. An autopsy released Friday confirms that 92-year-old Omer Nicholas Pope Jr. died from injuries he got when the ambulance he was riding in was hit by another vehicle.
According to the report, Pope died from blunt force trauma to his head and neck. Investigators say he fell from his gurney during the crash, which caused those fatal injuries.
