WSPD makes arrest in fatal hit-and-run

The Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD) has made an arrest in the fatal hit-and-run that they believe was done deliberately on Monday afternoon.

Here’s what we know: Around 1:14 p.m. on Monday, June 2, officers responded to a reported hit-and-run collision with injuries in the 2300 block of Burgundy Street. Upon arrival officers found Tammy Denise Long, who was suffering from injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

EMS responded to the scene and transported Long to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries. Dozens of people took to social media after hearing about the incident to share their condolences. Long was known and loved throughout the city…
