Mom arrested after child left in hot car. Police warned her twice before

GREENSBORO, N.C. — We’re pressing for answers as some WFMY News 2 viewers question whether Greensboro police could have done more to protect a 14-month-old child from what investigators say was dangerous abuse and neglect.

According to police, Jayla Branch was arrested last week after allegedly leaving her toddler alone in a hot car for several hours while she went to work. The District Attorney’s Office says she didn’t have a babysitter, so she covered the car windows with blankets trying to keep the child hidden.
