Rain moves out of the Triad on a sunny Thursday

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A cold front slipped east of the Piedmont overnight and we will be able to enjoy sunnier skies with slightly lower humidity today.

Highs are going to be near 90° this afternoon with a heat index around 94° and the UV index is 11 out of 11. Please stay hydrated and protect yourself from sunburns by applying and reapplying sunscreen if you’re outdoors for an extended time period.

Clear skies are ahead for tonight with lows near 70°.

Independence Day is looking great, with highs around 90° and sunny skies. Firework shows on Friday night will be great, with clear skies and temperatures tumbling from the mid-80s at 8 p.m. to the upper-70s at 10 p.m.
