PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Parts of the Piedmont Triad saw heavy rainfall Sunday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal, now downgraded to a tropical depression, approached the area.
Doppler radar indicated rainfall totals in Alamance County are adding up to 9” so far between Snow Camp and Saxapahaw, along Highway 87. Graham estimates are around 5” right now and rain is still falling at rates as high as 1.5” per hour. Alamance County still has roughly a couple more hours of rainfall ahead.
Keep in mind, our rainfall totals are beginning to exceed rainfall from the eastern part of the state, where estimates near Loris and Tabor City (about 45 minutes north of Myrtle Beach, on the state line) are 7”…
