Passenger charged with abduction after alleged pursuit in Bristol, Va.

BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — A North Carolina man was arrested Tuesday after leading deputies with the Washington County, Virginia Sheriff’s Office on a pursuit through Virginia and Tennessee, a release from the sheriff’s office said.

The release stated deputies were alerted to a red Nissan SUV connected to an ongoing joint narcotics investigation. The Nissan was reportedly observed leaving Motel 6 on Clear Creek Road in Bristol, Va. The vehicle allegedly failed to pull over during deputies’ attempt at a traffic stop.

After failing to stop, the Nissan reportedly started a pursuit that began southbound on Interstate 81 and into the City of Bristol before coming to a stop in Tennessee.

The passenger, Jonas Tramone Thompson, 44, of High Point, North Carolina, was taken into custody and charged with the following in Washington County, Virginia:

  • Abduction
  • Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

He was charged with the following in Bristol, Va., according to the release:

  • Concealing/Destroying Evidence
  • Possession of a Firearm while in Possession of Drugs
  • Manufacture, Sale and Possession of Controlled Substance

Thompson is being held in the Sullivan County, Tennessee, Jail as a fugitive from Virginia, the release said…
