Flood, thunderstorm risks persist in Triad on Thursday

  • A Flood Watch will be in effect until 2 a.m. Friday for Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph, and Rockingham Counties.
  • Flood Warnings are in effect for the Deep River and Haw River
  • There is a Level 1/Marginal Risk of severe weather today and tonight.  The main threat is damaging winds.

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — The first half of today, we will have partly cloudy skies and muggy conditions. Temperatures will warm to the mid-80s by early afternoon before showers and thunderstorms develop. In Guilford, Davidson, Alamance, and Caswell Counties, especially, the soil is saturated from this week’s rainfall. Even a small to moderate amount of rain can produce flash flooding in these areas. The chance of rain today is 50%.

Showers and thunderstorms diminish later in the evening, and skies will become partly cloudy after midnight.  Lows will be near 70°.

Friday and Saturday, our rain chances drop to 25%.  Temperatures will be seasonable, in the upper-80s under partly sunny skies.

The chance of rain rises to between 40% and 60% Sunday through Wednesday of next week.  High temperatures are expected to remain in the upper-80s through Monday.  A cold front is forecast to come through the Piedmont on Tuesday, bringing highs back to the mid-80s through Wednesday…
