‘He Made Every Day Better’: Alamance County Man Remembered After Deadly Tropical Storm

DURHAM, N.C. — As Tropical Storm Chantal swept across North Carolina over the weekend, it killed six people — including two in Alamance County. One of them was 71-year-old James “Mikey” Parcell of Haw River, a man whose friends and coworkers say left behind more than just memories — he left behind a legacy of joy.

Deputies found Parcell in his car Sunday night after being swept off the road near the intersection of Jones Drive and Calloway Drive in southeastern Alamance County.
