Mebane community steps up, offering free meals in aftermath of Tropical Storm Chantal

MEBANE, N.C. — In the aftermath of Tropical Storm Chantal, which left many Mebane residents without water or power, the community is coming together to offer relief through hot meals and cold water.

The storm caused severe flooding that knocked the Graham-Mebane Water Treatment Plant offline, cutting off the city’s main water supply. The plant was submerged under six feet of water, disrupting service to homes, businesses, and industries.

In response, Wilkerson Catering & Co. is giving back by serving free meals in a drive-thru format on Sunday evening. Guests are asked to remain in their vehicles, and meals will be delivered directly to them…
