Fallen tree cuts power, closes roads in Alamance County

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A fallen tree that took down power lines and damaged multiple utility poles early Tuesday has knocked out electricity and forced road closures along Old Highway 87 in Alamance County, where repair crews are working through the day.

Duke Energy said the tree brought down a primary power line and damaged four power poles, leaving many residents without power. Utility crews are on site, but due to the extent of the damage, service is not expected to be restored until late Tuesday afternoon.
