As per the NWS Raleigh observation, the serenity of the calm wind holds a deceptive edge; later today, the region is expected to bake under a “mostly sunny” sky with highs soaring near 96 degrees. Later on, storms may roll in, offering some rainfall but also the threat of heavy downpours and localized flooding.
Moving into tonight, the chance of showers and thunderstorms increases to 50%, with potential heavy rainfalls looming on the horizon. Any storms could bring a quarter to a half-inch of additional rain, complicating the already hazardous weather outlook.
