Gun store targeted in Burlington smash-and-grab

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police are investigating after thieves rammed a car into a Burlington gun store and stole several firearms early Sunday morning.

According to the Burlington Police Department, officers responded to Weapon Works on University Drive just after 3:00 a.m. on July 13 for a reported break-in in progress.

When officers arrived, they found the front glass entryway completely shattered and the business’s steel security barrier forcibly opened. Investigators say a black 2013 Kia Optima was driven into the store to gain entry…
