Man charged in crash that killed 35-year-old motorcyclist in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A man is facing charges connected to a crash that claimed the life of a 35-year-old motorcyclist earlier in the month of July, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.

At around 8:29 p.m. on July 11, officers came to the intersection of South Main Street and Konnoak Drive to investigate a crash.

Motorcyclist killed in crash on US 52 in Winston-Salem

Investigators say that 42-year-old Hilario Avila Hernandez was driving a 1998 Ford Econoline van north on South Main Street while 35-year-old Daniel Clay Clinard was riding a 2024 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on South Main Street. The vehicles collided when Hernandez attempted to turn left onto Konnoak Drive in front of Clinard’s motorcycle.

Clinard was pronounced dead at the scene. Hernandez was taken to a local medical center with minor injuries…
