Man facing more charges after Madison, Stoneville fires: Sheriff’s Office

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — A Rockingham County man is facing more charges in connection with a series of fires that occurred in Madison and Stoneville earlier this month.

Ricky Arnold Farmer, 65, was arrested last week and initially charged with five counts of felony burning certain structures and four counts of felony burning personal property related to fires reported on July 22 at 210 Paisley Road in Madison. Authorities said the fires destroyed several barns and farm equipment, prompting an investigation by the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office and the county Fire Marshal’s Office.

Investigators identified Farmer as a person of interest in two earlier fires reported on July 7 and July 9 at 125 Danbury Bridge Road in Madison. Those fires damaged a residence, a camper, a vehicle, and a storage building. Investigators also discovered a fire that occurred on July 9 at Farmer’s own residence on Janet Road in Stoneville.
