PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A cold front crept through the Piedmont overnight, and you may notice a difference in temperatures today as highs top out around 83 degrees. We will have persistent clouds and a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon.
Some storms may produce heavy rain and there is a Level 2/Slight Risk of Excessive Rainfall, resulting in flash flooding.

Quieter weather is on the way for the evening and overnight hours. Aside from some isolated showers, we will just have clouds around through daybreak. Lows are going to be noticeably cooler, in the mid-60s.
While Saturday is going to be cloudy, temperatures will be quite cool and comfortable, courtesy of high pressure nosing into the Mid-Atlantic. Enjoy highs in the mid-70s, which is 10 degrees to 15 degrees below normal!
There is only a 20% chance of a stray shower in the early morning. By the end of the day, there will already be clearing taking place from east to west. Partly cloudy skies are going to make Sunday one of the prettiest days of the week with highs in the upper-70s.
Monday is going to be quite similar to Sunday with partly cloudy skies and highs near 80°.
The middle of the upcoming work week is going to bring another change to our weather pattern. This time, temperatures will stay unseasonably cool, but we are going to have a 40% to 60% chance of showers Tuesday through Thursday…
