Temperatures in the 60s on a rainy Tuesday in the Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — We will have steady showers today and there is some concern about excessive rainfall, especially in the southwestern Piedmont.

Grab your umbrella and keep it handy because we have a 100% chance of rain today and tomorrow. While severe weather (tornadoes, damaging winds, etc.) is not in the forecast, we will have a risk of excessive rainfall that may produce flooding or flash flooding. The area of highest concern is the southwestern corner of the Piedmont, where there is a Level 2/Slight Risk of very high rainfall totals. Please remember “Turn around, don’t drown” as you navigate the Piedmont today, tonight, and tomorrow.  Temperatures will hold steadily in the lower to mid-60s, peaking briefly around 70 degrees.

Scattered showers remain in the forecast for Thursday morning, but the chance of rain is only 40%.  The rest of the day, we’re expecting some peeks of sunshine to return and that will help give a boost to high temperatures around the Piedmont.  By Friday and Saturday, we will trim the chance of rain down to 20% to 25% with partly to mostly cloudy skies.  An area of low pressure is forecast to form off the coast of Florida and Georgia Friday afternoon, and we will be tracking it for tropical development through the weekend. Highs are expected to be in the upper-70s. Thursday through Saturday.

You will notice humidity returning to the forecast by Sunday and Monday as the coastal low churns northward.  We will continue to have partly to mostly cloudy skies both days with a 20% chance of rain in the Triad.  Rain chances will be higher along the coast.  Highs on Sunday will be in the lower-80’s, and highs will warm to the mid-80’s by Mo…
