RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina Governor Josh Stein signed two bills into law on Wednesday and vetoed one.
House Bill 125 includes funding for a major airplane manufacturing project in Guilford County. JetZero, which announced plans in June to build a factory at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, is expected to bring more than 14,000 jobs to the area. Just days ago, the company confirmed it will also move its headquarters to Greensboro.
Stein signed the budget despite concerns, saying “This Band-Aid budget fails to invest in our teachers and students, fails to keep families safe, fails to value hardworking state employees, and fails to fully fund health care. With federal cuts on the horizon, the legislature’s forced $319 million cut to Medicaid will be particularly painful. Despite these serious reservations, I am signing this bill into law because it keeps the lights on.”…
