Reidsville High receives sanctions from NCHSAA over eligibility violations

REIDSVILLE, N.C. — Reidsville High will face discipline after the NCHSAA determined that the school violated the governing body’s athletic participation requirements in several different sports during the 2024-25 school year.

According to Rockingham County Schools, administrators at Reidsville High discovered “potential participation of ineligible athletes” during last school year. The school found instances where athletes were allowed to play despite not having up-to-date physicals or other required medical participation forms.

The following teams committed at least one violation, according to the NCHSAA:

  • JV Football
  • JV Women’s Basketball
  • JV Men’s Basketball
  • JV Baseball
  • Varsity Volleyball
  • Varsity Women’s Tennis
  • Varsity Women’s Basketball
  • Varsity Men’s Wrestling
  • Varsity Men’s Swimming
  • Varsity Women’s Track and Field
  • Varsity Men’s Track and Field
  • Varsity Men’s Tennis

The district said that the NCHSAA informed the school on August 6 that each head coach for the teams that committed violations will be reprimanded, placed on probation for the 2025-26 school year and will be suspended for their team’s first contests this season.
