Greensboro police warn street takeovers will not be tolerated

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greensboro Police Department is cracking down on illegal street takeovers, saying the dangerous events put lives and property at risk.

Since January, police have seized six vehicles in connection with the gatherings, which often involve drivers blocking off streets and parking lots to perform burnouts, donuts and other stunts.

“A street takeover is when any vehicle or several vehicles takeover any part of a street, highway, parking lot, they impede traffic or block traffic from exiting and exiting,” Capt. Frances Banks said…
