Some Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools students left without bus assignments ahead of first day due to ‘technical glitch’

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Some Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools students may need to find another way to school to start the year after a “technical glitch” left some children without bus assignments.

On Monday, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools issued a notice to families, explaining that a glitch left some Kindergarten, sixth grade and ninth grade students without a bus assignment. The notice came just two days before WS/FCS’s first day of school for the 2025-2026 school year, Wednesday, Aug. 13.

WS/FCS is in less debt to the state but still millions short as school year approaches

The district says the glitch happened in the process of transferring from the PowerSchool software to the Infinite Campus software.

“Transportation is working diligently to get all students assigned to a stop if they requested it by May 30,” WS/FCS said in the notice. “We are unable at this time to provide an exact timetable when this issue to be resolved for all students.”…
