Winston-Salem officials are expressing cautious optimism following the announcement that HanesBrands will be acquired by Gildan Activewear, a Canadian clothing company.
HanesBrands has operated in the city for over a century. Still, the buyout didn’t come as a surprise to Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines.
