Greensboro, NC – A Florida man already serving a 47-year federal sentence for violent cryptocurrency home invasions was handed nearly seven more years in prison Thursday for launching a brutal attack on a cooperating witness who testified against him.
Remy Ra St Felix, 25, of West Palm Beach, pleaded guilty earlier this year to retaliating against a federal witness after he assaulted the individual inside a detention center in Greensboro on October 8. Prosecutors said St Felix was being held at the facility when he was let out of a holding cell and immediately began punching the witness—who was shackled at the time—striking him repeatedly in the head and body while shouting insults and calling him a “rat.”
The attack came after Witness-1 had testified in open court about St Felix’s role in a series of violent home invasions orchestrated to steal cryptocurrency. A jury convicted St Felix on all counts, and he was sentenced to 47 years behind bars for the organized scheme.
