Retiring Guilford County Firefighter to Receive Top Honor from NC Insurance Commissioner

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey is set to present Alamance Community Fire District’s long-serving firefighter, Wayne Henderson, with the Department of Insurance’s highest accolade, the Order of the Guardian Award. This event is slated to take place during a retirement party in honor of Henderson’s 50 years of service. The ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at the Alamance Community Fire District, Station 54, located at 4108 Presbyterian Road, Greensboro, N.C., according to an announcement from the North Carolina Department of Insurance.

Henderson began serving with the fire department on Aug. 1, 1975, and has spent 50 years protecting his community in Guilford County. He also mentored younger firefighters by sharing his experience.
