Janet Ward Black, owner of Ward Black Law in Greensboro and the first female assistant district attorney in Rowan County, has been inducted into the North Carolina Bar Association Hall of Fame in recognition of her leadership and career contributions to the legal profession.
Black is the owner of one of the state’s largest woman-owned law firms and a graduate of Davidson College and Duke University School of Law. Over her career, she has held leadership roles in several of North Carolina’s most prominent legal organizations. She served as the third woman president of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers (now NCAJ) in 2002–2003.
