Suspects in custody after shots fired at deputies in chase on US 220 in Rockingham County, sheriff says

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — There is a large law enforcement presence on US 220 in Rockingham County after shots were fired at deputies, according to Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page.

Video from the scene shows Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office deputies at the scene on US 220 near Paw Paw Road.

The video shows a deputy with a gun in his hand standing on the shoulder of US 220 overlooking a white pickup truck that is facing the wrong way in the grass on the side of the road.

Page confirmed to FOX8 that shots were fired at deputies. Initially, things began as a chase on US 220 at around 10 a.m. A person of interest for break-ins was spotted in a car that drove off at 110 mph and the two suspects inside the car fired at the pursuing deputies…
