Pumpkin Patch grows hope in memory of Triad boy

REIDSVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — What started as a way to cover medical bills for a little boy has grown into a one-day event that brings an entire community together.

Tate’s Punkin Patch in Reidsville was founded by Tyler Walker in honor of his grandson, Tate, who was born without sight. Facing countless therapies and medical expenses not covered by insurance, Walker held a small pumpkin patch fundraiser. Nearly 1,000 people showed up that first year.

Tate passed away at just 18 months old, but his love for the pumpkin patch and the joy it brought his family inspired Walker to keep the tradition alive…
