Suspect arrested nearly 3 years after NC A&T State University student killed in shooting

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A suspect is in custody nearly three years after a North Carolina A&T State University student was killed during a shooting at a party.

Assistant Chief Ric Alston, joined by Assistant Chief Stephanie Martis and NC A&T State University Police Chief Robert Hassell, announced the arrest on Friday, the same day the arrest was made.

Rishon Elias Weaver, 20, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Kaneycha Turner.

At about 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 25, 2022, police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex on Circle Drive.
