Greensboro, NC – A suspicious activity call in High Point earlier this month has escalated into a homicide investigation, leading to an arrest and the discovery of human remains believed to be connected to a missing woman.
According to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Blackberry Ridge Drive on September 9, 2025, and located evidence suggesting foul play. The case quickly expanded into a missing person and homicide investigation after 36-year-old Amber Marie Schimmelpfenning was last seen around midnight the same day.
Detectives worked closely with the Guilford County District Attorney’s Office to obtain warrants for Ricky Lam, 40, who was charged with felony first-degree murder, felony concealment and failure to report a death, and felony possession of a firearm by a felon.
