PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Skies continue to remain mostly cloudy this evening and temperatures will fall through the 70s.
As we head into the start of the work week, all eyes continue to remain on the tropics and whether we’ll see any impacts from Imelda. The good news is that throughout the weekend, data has been consistent with Imelda being pulled east-northeastward by Humberto, back out into the open Atlantic on Tuesday. Imelda is not forecast to make landfall in the United States or anywhere along the southeast coastline. Even with no landfall, heavy rainfall across the coastal Carolinas could cause isolated flash, urban and river flooding through Tuesday. Rough surf and rip currents are also likely along portions of the Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina coastline. Since Imelda’s track continues to shift further away from the Triad, our impacts are fairly low with rain as our main focus.
With that being said, be sure to have the rain gear with you as you head out the door on Monday because rain chances are at 70%. Temperatures won’t move a whole lot on Monday thanks to the cloud cover and rainfall. Morning lows start in the mid-60s and highs reach the low 70s…
