Authorities say 4 people died in crash that shut down I-40 in Forsyth County for over 6 hours

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — Four people were killed in a fiery crash on I-40 near Cole Road in Forsyth County last Sunday, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 7:05 p.m. on October 12, when a 2021 Honda Accord ran off the right side of the road “at a high rate of speed” and hit a bridge pillar near Cole Road. The car caught fire after impact, and all four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.
