Man accused of stealing $41K in lawnmowers from Joe’s Tractor Sales in Thomasville arrested, deputies say

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Durham man has been arrested in connection with the theft of four commercial lawnmowers valued at more than $41,000 from a Thomasville business, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded Sept. 23 to Joe’s Tractor Sales after a report that four 2025 Bobcat lawnmowers had been stolen. Investigators determined that Calvis Shannard Jones, 42, arrived at the business in the early morning hours in a Penske rental truck, broke through a fence and took the mowers, deputies said.

Detectives issued arrest warrants charging Jones with felony breaking and entering, larceny, trespassing and property damage. He was taken into custody Oct. 15 in Durham by local and Davidson County investigators and transported back to Davidson County…
