Over 200 families receive free groceries in Greensboro amid SNAP shutdown

GREENSBORO, N.C. — More than 200 people turned out for a free “fresh mobile market” hosted by Out of the Garden Project, an organization that provides groceries to families experiencing food insecurity.

The event brought a week’s worth of meat, dairy, bread, produce, and other grocery items directly into neighborhoods with the greatest need.

The mobile markets have been operating since 2010 and now serve more than 2,500 households each month at over two dozen locations. This year alone, the program has visited 28 locations, offering monthly recurring markets to build community and provide consistent access to food…
