Woman identified as suspect in Randolph County chase that seriously injured 2 people

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has identified a woman as the suspect in a chase that left two people seriously injured on Thursday night.

On Thursday, a deputy saw a vehicle at a gas station on US 64 and recognized the driver, Leslie Ann Moore Pugh, as a woman with numerous outstanding warrants.

Investigators say that the deputy tried to take Pugh into custody; however, she refused to get out of the vehicle and drove away, dragging the deputy a short distance before he was able to get free and call for help. A chase then began on US 64.

During the chase, Pugh avoided stop sticks deployed by deputies and regained control of her vehicle after a PIT maneuver caused her to spin out. Eventually, she lost control of the vehicle in a curve and overturned.

Pugh and a passenger were taken to the hospital with serious injuries and a third person was not hurt and released at the scene…
