Two accused of smuggling drugs into North Carolina correctional facility

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — On Oct. 31, two people were charged in connection with conspiring to get controlled substances into a correctional facility, according to a Nov. 6 Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office press release.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation included a traffic stop in Swannanoa, which led to the seizure of 199 suboxone strips/films.

“We appreciate this collaboration with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office in stopping dangerous drugs from reaching state prisons. Stopping the flow of illegal contraband into correctional facilities makes a safer environment behind our walls and fences and also in our communities,” North Carolina Department of Adult Correction secretary Leslie Cooley Dismukes said in the release…
