Burlington man accused of kidnapping woman, driving recklessly as she tried to escape

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A 35-year-old Burlington man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly kidnapping a woman and driving recklessly as she tried to jump from a moving pickup, according to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 6:52 p.m. Nov. 4, the Burlington Communications Center received several 911 calls reporting a dark Dodge Ram driving erratically with a woman attempting to escape the vehicle. One of the calls came from the Econo Lodge in Burlington, where deputies believed to be connected to a domestic disturbance.

Deputies reviewed surveillance footage showing a woman wearing a red shirt clinging to the bed of a Dodge Ram with a Virginia license plate. The truck was last seen near Maple Avenue heading toward the Interstate 40 East on-ramp. Reports later placed the vehicle near Highway 54 and Thom Road in southeastern Alamance County, but deputies were unable to locate it…
